The toaster is decorated with a light on one side and has the Artwork from the 1939 Chicago World’s Fair imprinted on both sides and the top.

Believe it or not, the toaster actually still WORKS!  After all these years, yes, it still works…and so does the light on the side!  As the toaster warms, the light becomes brighter and it shines a nice reddish-orange color.

It does have the original electrical cord attached, and at about midpoint of the cord, it has been wrapped with electrical tape.  Also, there is some visible wear at both ends of the cord, but otherwise it is in good shape and like I said earlier, it does in fact work (or at least it did on the 21st of May, 2011)!

On each end of the Sunbeam T 9, there is an adjustment knob that I’ve tested (07 May, 2011 was the test date), and yes, they work also!  One knob is labeled “Lighter” and “Darker”, I believe these are self explanatory.

The other knob is labeled “Pops Toast Up” and “Keeps Toast Warm.”  This one, when turned towards “Keeps Toast Warm”, does exactly what it says it does, it keeps the toast warm instead of allowing it pop up!

On the bottom of the Sunbeam T-9 Toaster is an adjustment labeled “Voltage Adjustment.”  The directions for this adjustment are also on the bottom and they are “If button on toaster points to dark and toast is too light give this wheel 1 complete turn direction of arrow.”, while the other side of the adjustment says “If button on toaster points to light and toast is too dark give this wheel 1 complete turn direction of arrow.”

Also on the bottom is “Sunbeam”, “Model T-9″, “Made in United States America”, “Chicago Flexible Shaft Co, Chicago”.  Then the patent information is as follows “Pat. 1862733-2031656-2196393-2197221-2254687-2271485″, “Des. Pat. 107552″.  Below that is “Other patents pending”, then “Volts 110-120″, “Watts 1100″.  Below that is the warning “CAUTION”, “USE WITH WALL OR BASE RECEPTACLE ONLY”.

All of the above is on a hinged plate that opens to clean the toaster and has the following warnings on it:
“Pull Button to Open Cover and Thoroughly Brush and Shake out Crumbs Frequently.”, plus “Pull Out Wall Plug BEFORE OPENING THIS COVER.”
